It is remarkable to be that people can get completely invested in a anecdotal, tragedy like the death of a queen or 9/11 but can't give two suits about something that is ever present and hundreds of times more destructive like poverty or covid.

I'm beginning to think that without directly confronting mortality moral issues seem abstract as opposed to realities that are to be confronted. There are soft privileged people who will at best tangentially ponder their morals and unfortunately their behavior reflects that.
