Catholic Conclave: German theology focuses on synod and forgets Christ according to Cardinal. Calls the move from Francis to Leo, discontinuity within continuity. Now he tells us! #CatholicX cathcon.blogspot.com/2026/06…

Modern society wants to live without God. It does not always say that it denies Him; it merely claims that it can do without Him. That is its fundamental error. Victor-Auguste Dechamps (1810-1883) #CatholicX

Today is the Feast of St. Germaine Cousin. Patron Saint of abuse survivors, abandoned people, and those with disabilities. Despite growing up facing horrific physical and emotional abuse, she remained deeply pious, joyful, and charitable throughout her short life.

We are now in a third wave of modernism smashing into the Church.
A Sign That Said It All Paul VI abolished the Anti-Modernist Oath because he no longer viewed Modernism as the grave threat that Pope Pius X had identified. His decision was consistent with his broader post-conciliar reforms and his desire for a Church more open to modern theological currents. This makes Paul VI responsible for the spread of Modernist ideas within the Catholic Church. By removing one of the principal safeguards established by Pope Pius X, Paul VI effectively lowered the Church's defenses at a time when many theologians previously suspected of Modernist tendencies had gained influence at Vatican II. The abolition of the oath was a sign that the anti-Modernist vigilance of earlier popes had been abandoned. Paul VI followed John XXIII's lead. Now Leo XIV is following Francis'.

I just don't think there is much that is more evil than telling people they can't kneel before Jesus.
Cardinal McElroy has banned the installation of new Altar rails and discourages temporary kneelers, citing "a disruption of the flow of the Communion line". As you can see here, there is no disruption. Just another garbage excuse to attack the Latin Mass.

I shall remember this when we sing it on the @latinmassuk Walsingham Pilgrimage in Norfolk!
On this day in 1936 GK Chesterton died at his home in Beaconsfield. The novelist, poet and essayist wrote the poem O God of Earth and Altar, which Vaughan Williams set to a tune he had heard sung by an old man in Norfolk. He called the hymn Kings Lynn.

I asked Chatgpt what this represented. The image was not recognised as a Mass but rather 1) A social gathering or meeting. 2) A café, classroom, or public event 3) An abstract commentary on human relationships 4) Mid-century modern graphic design #CatholicX
Cover of a book by the highly influential liturgist Pius Parsch from 1952. The liturgy was an abstraction for them already represented by infantile art. #CatholicX The break came before the Council which gives an illusion of the hermeneutic of continuity.

Lifting his foot is exactly what he’s done! Do you think Francis would have allowed the TLM to return to St Peter’s altar of the chair? And he’d have given in to the French bishops’ demand that the Chartres pilgrimage should not be allowed to celebrate the TLM in the cathedral. I know priests who celebrate the 1962 Mass in Rome. They all say that they no longer live in fear. There are Masses that wouldn’t have been celebrated under Francis. If he were still pope, New York and Westminster would have been saddled with bishops who would have moved against traditionalists. But of course it’s sad that TC remains in place. It’s fair enough to criticise Pope Leo for this but don’t tell me that nothing has changed.

Eh? It's rich that Cardinal Kasper is criticising German emphasis on ecclesiology when he was all in favour of women deacons five minutes ago.

In 1789 Mozart said that an ‘enlightened Protestant’ could never fully understand the emotional and spiritual depth of the Agnus Dei. He also wrote to his father that he could never live in a Protestant country.
It's a Catholic and Reformed church, and I think Mozart would have been fine with that, not least because of the masonic connection.
