West Virginia Coach Steve Sabins goes into great detail about the Biomechanics Lab that @WVUBaseball has on campus.
“For Courtney Semkewyc it was kind of a no brainer… She’s a unicorn - PHD in Biomechanics, that’s a baseball rat, that wants to be in a dugout, and be at practice all day, and grind. You can’t just go create that person or system.”

Oneil Cruz has made the biggest jump against lefties, among MLB hitters this year. His swing profile on fastballs has seen minimal improvement. When facing a breaking ball from a lefty, his biggest improvement is how he swings and misses....

His swing decisions are allowing Cruz to have good contact at a high rate, although it increases the big misses. His whiff rate is down 13% and his competitive swing rate improved to 83.3%.

Under the new kickoff format, the automatic TB decision last night made no sense in that situation. When in the landing zone, the average return brings the ball to the -30.7 YL. These returns also average 5.18 seconds of game clock being run off, which is crucial late game.

Instead, LA only needed ~20 yards with more than enough time to get into FG range. One quick out and a pass over the middle (12 seconds needed for play and spike), Atlanta is lucky Stafford didn’t tie it up.

Current-day kickers are the best that position has ever seen. “60 is the new 50” might not be accurate but it’s not crazy to say NFL kickers are hitting from around 5 yards further, with the same accuracy of the 2000s.
