🚨October Condensate of the Month is Stress Granule!
#StressGranules (#SGs) are dynamically forming cytoplasmic condensates that form in response to various cellular stresses.
🤩In CD-CODE there are more than 10 species and more than 1300 #protein associations described for SGs.
Various species have different Stress Granule proteomes:
🔵Translationally stalled mRNAs,
🔵translation initiation factors,
🔵RNA-binding proteins, and
🔵non-RNA-binding proteins
are among the main constituents of SGs.
💫September Condensate of the Month is TIP body!💫
These #condensates form at the growing plus end of #microtubules, crucial for cell division and transport.🦠🧫 : cd-code.org/condensate/9095A…
Check out the protein composition of TIPs in different organisms ⤵️
These condensates concentrate proteins needed for growing tip of the #microtubule.
TIP bodies have been described in...
...🐁mammalian cells (Wu et al., 2021),
...🧪S. pombe (Maan, Reese &Volkov et al., 2023),
...🧪S. cerevisiae (Meier, Farcas &Kumar et al., 2023 @LabBarral

🌟Excited to introduce #MARDO as CD-CODE August "Condensate of the Month"!🌟
MARDO stands for Mitochondria-Associated RNA DOmain: cd-code.org/condensate/089DA…
💡It was first discovered and described by Cheng et al. @SchuhLab in #mammalian (mouse, bovine and human) #oocyte.
1/3🧵⤵️
🔵MARDO is a #membraneless compartment that stores maternal mRNAs, important for early embryonic development.
ZAR1, an RNA-binding protein with an intrinsically disordered region (#IDR), plays a major role in MARDO assembly and facilitates clustering with #mitochondria.
