🧠 It’s just the Mindset❗️ Discipline!, Discipline! and good waste recycling practices by every household or facility. Here, the municipalities have the mandate to ensure all spaces are clean and clear of waste. They have excellent waste management strategies coupled with strict law enforcement: The fines will be sent to your address immediately you are caught not disposing right and you have no option than to pay. Heavier fines if you are caught fly-tipping; ( throwing garbage into waterbodies, bushes, roads etc) It’s strict enforcement & compliance. (TANKAS) 🚯 There aren’t many waste bins in sight as we have them in Ghana. ( 👀 sore) There are different biodegradable and non-bio plastic bags for household waste. For public spaces, you will find a few metal bins and mini recycling point to dispose of food, pmd, plastics and cans and collection is done bi-weekly; A day for collecting plastics only and another for collecting a mix bag of household waste ( excluding organic waste) Within communities you will find medium underground recycling points for : glasses, wood, cut grass, boxes, old clothing & shoes, etc. and you cannot mix them. There are separate containers for each item. There are also special organic waste storage but this uses an e-card linked to your address. Strictly for organic waste❗️ There is also an option to drive to the recycling sites on your own to dispose of your household waste. 📸 Although there are cameras everywhere, they are primarily for security surveillance to ensure the cities and towns are safe. The cameras are not there to ensure people dispose right. 🚱 Good waste management is more like a culture here; the people are so civil they don’t liter. More like human cameras everywhere since everyone is so conscious of disposing right. ✅ Our leaders have the mandate to provide the necessary tools and sanctions⚒️ but the bigger responsibility is on everyone who generates waste daily.
