A practical example populist opportunism and ideological flip flopping.
In Burkina Faso 🇧🇫, Jacob Zuma looked at Ibrahim Traore in the eye and gave him a big fat lie, fellow Africans.
He claims his greatest wish is to dismantle colonial borders and unite African people fooling Ibrahim Traore and making the young captain think he is someone he can trust and work with.
Back home 🇿🇦, his party officially endorses xenophobic vigilantes hate groups who enforce those exact colonial borders through street violence, assaults, and forced store closures.
To top it off, Zuma himself stokes the fire in isiZulu scapegoating informal traders. His followers, who love to scream "flip-flopper" at opponents are completely silent because the hypocrisy suits their agenda.
A lesson for young African leaders, judge these people by their past actions, and not their meaningless words.
