Having been a high school teacher myself, @Tim_Walz 's reference to the hope and optimism of the first day of school is bringing tears to my eyes. Let's get this done! #KamalaHarris2024

It is the honor of a lifetime to join @kamalaharris in this campaign. I’m all in. Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what’s possible. It reminds me a bit of the first day of school. So, let’s get this done, folks! Join us. secure.actblue.com/donate/so…

Finally, the focus right now is on the World Bank. But the lion's share of the blame for this tragedy clearly belongs to Bridge International Academies. They have placed their own commercial interests over protecting children before. They'll likely do it again. /end

If not for this investigation, many would still be celebrating this school network as transformative. How many such cases of wrongdoing remain unknown? Where is the accountability for transnational institutions that run “development initiatives” in LMICs? Who is monitoring them?

❗️❗️After two in depth investigations by The Intercept into a World Bank cover-up a child sex abuse scandal at a for profit school network in Africa, the World Bank has finally acknowledged wrongdoing. WB head Ajay Banga in an email to staff apologized to the victims and promised an independent investigation. This comes after the bank and its client spent the last year denigrating and dismissing our reporting.
