When you knock down a display of Easter eggs in the supermarket because you didn’t see them… then that awkward moment afterwards not knowing what to do about it 🤦🏻♀️👩🏻🦯
#VisualImpairment
This happened to me last week-
“You’re not blind, you’ve got glasses” says kids outside Tesco as I walk past using my white cane🙄
I’m intrigued, what would you do-
a) don’t say anything, keep walking
b) stop & try & educate them
C) tell them to be quiet?

Thank you to all the nurses who have treated me as a patient 🏥
Thank you to all the nurses who I’ve worked with - you do an amazing job in tough situations.❤️
Everyday you are helping people and that’s an incredible gift.

Today is International Nurses Day.
It takes a special person to be a nurse.
Thank you to all of them for doing what they do.

Question for the occupational therapy community
I’m working with a patient with severe burns who is now in general rehab. This type of patients is a 1st for me, so I’m keen to learn & find more resources for this area of #OccupationalTherapy. Any advice/guidance can be shared?
I am part of
‘Unity- The After Cure Choir’
for survivors of childhood & young adult cancer & we are delighted to have been nominated for a Yorkshire Choice Award! 🎉
Please can I ask you to consider voting for us under the ‘Community arts’ catagory? 🙏🏼

Tonight’s Thursday night occupations that made me smile- baking & singing! The choir is made up of those living with long term impacts of childhood cancer- a true example of how occupations can make an amazing difference to our lives❤️
#OTWeek23#OTWeek2023@theRCOT
Totally agree- often patient’s occupations are influenced by what the system allows us to do in the time & environment we are in. I have found involving patients in setting their own goals has helped me focus on how I can help them. But it is certainty not easy! #OTweek23
Really refreshing to see some #OTreality being shared today! It can be hard to focus on meaningful occupations when we are trying to discharge safely and keep the bed flow as an acute OT! Especially in peak winter when winter pressures kick in!! #OTWeek23
Happy OT Week! 🎉
Q- “what is your job?”
Me- “I’m an occupational therapist”
Q- “ the same as a physiotherapist?”
Me- No! We give you a reason to walk, help you overcome any barriers to being independent again.
#otweek2023#OTweek23#LivingNotexisting
Occupations are the things we do that are important to us. Occupational Therapists ensure we can do the things that make us live, not just survive. #OTweek23
As Occupational Therapists we have been referred to as a nurse, physiotherapist, carer, the list goes on. You can recognise an OT usually by the white tunic with green trim and bottle green trousers. it’s time to shout out about our differences. #OTweek23
Occupations are essential to living. They give our lives meaning, purpose and structure. 💚
This #OTWeek23, help us show people everywhere what occupations, in the context of occupational therapy, are and why they are so important!

Shop assistant: “did he just steal something”
Me: “No idea, don’t think I’m the best person to ask” [gesturing to my white cane]
Shop assistant: oh I’m so sorry
Me: “Never mind sorry, just go after him!” 🤣🤦🏻♀️
