i feel like itโs more the fact that fanfic used to be both read and written by fanfic writers, it was more of a community vs now thereโs a huge amount of people who only read fic (which is fine!) but sometimes treat fic like content to just consume and not interact with
This is what happens when readers don't go through the wattpad and ffnet rite of passage and jump straight to ao3.
Wattpad writers used to hold chapters hostage until they received a particular amount of votes and comments and readers developing fandom etiquette as we know today
