Protecting the Amazon isn’t just about the forest—it’s about the people and livelihoods of those who call it home. That’s why, through #AmazoniaViva, the @WorldBank Group is working with partners to support a healthy, prosperous, and livable Amazon.

Manaus stands out as one of the few Latin American cities linking fiscal reforms with climate and environmental goals. The Amazon is known for its forests — but its cities drive jobs & opportunities for millions. Great discussion with Mayor @DavidAlmeidaAM

Very proud of the work of our teams who have been working hard with the government and stakeholders to preserve the Amazon forest while creating better opportunities and livelihoods for the communities.
Nearly 30 million people call the Amazon home — where forest & life are inseparable 🌿 Inspired by innovation at the Amazon Biotechnology Center, turning biodiversity into market opportunities. This Curauá fiber says it all! Proud to grow our partnership & scale bio-tech.

Their forest-based economies and traditional knowledge show how conservation drives inclusive growth. We’re supporting reforms to reward environmental stewardship — from green tax incentives to REDD mechanisms that value forests and those who protect them.

It was great traveling with @AxelVT_WB in #Amazonas State and being welcomed by indigenous communities proud of their culture and vested in preserving their heritage.
In the state of Amazonas, sustainable use of natural resources is more than an environmental strategy — it’s a lifeline for local communities. The @WorldBank is proud to support these efforts. Honored to meet the Tatuyos Indigenous and Tumbira riverside communities.

Welcome to #Brazil @AxelVT_WB Here’s to a successful #COP30
Touchdown in Belém for #COP30Amazonia! For the first time, a COP takes place in a rainforest — a powerful reminder of what’s at stake and what we must protect. The Amazon’s future is our shared responsibility. Time to listen, collaborate, and act. 🌎🌿

Lauriane's life would be radically different had she not taken that first step into a new career. In Brasília, Brazil, she told me it all began with a faulty outlet at home. Her story is another example of how jobs can transform lives. wrld.bg/VKUh50WOlLm

Very pleased to sign the Global Fellowship Agreement with the government of Brazil and looking forward to benefiting from the knowledge and expertise of Brazilian civil servants in our programs across the world. 🌍 🇧🇷 @bjerde_anna
It's official! Brazil is now the first country to join our @WorldBank Group Global Fellowship Program. Working side by side with national civil servants, and learning from their expertise, is another way to better serve the people we work for.

A truly inspiring group of women leaders that I look forward to working with in #Brazil!
Wherever I go, I make it a priority to engage with women leaders. Yesterday was special, with these women leading Brazil's development in food production, infrastructure, fiscal reforms & digital. They're doing it by creating platforms for mentoring and inspiring others.

What a great way to start my assignment in Brazil as World Bank Country Director! Many thanks @bjerde_anna for visiting & introducing me to our partners. We have much to contribute to Brazil as well as learn. Bolsa Familia is a case in point.
Great to see how Bolsa Familia has evolved from a cash transfer mechanism into a comprehensive social services platform—through a public-private partnership that matches job seekers with jobs. Jobs equal dignity!
