Larkin crying over Bertuzzi in that presser was the first major crack in the foundation of belief I had in him as the captain
Reading a bunch of articles, I totally forgot that Larkin signed his extension and then the very next day Yzerman traded away his best friend on the team Tyler Bertuzzi.
Don’t know of too many humans that wouldn’t aggressively rub the wrong way. Wonder if Steve mentioned that as a possibility to Dylan or not. So much we don’t know from the last 3 years that I want to know so bad.
My guess is thats the moment when Larkin started questioning Yzerman’s leadership and vision for the franchise. Then a couple more years of noise (March collapses, press conferences last spring, failed QH trade this winter, Team USA success) and now here we are.
I remember thinking Larks/Steve was gonna be such a clutch mentor/mentee relationship. Boy were we wrong on that. #LGRW

Larkin lists 3 teams he wants to go to. These 3 teams packages are a B prospect and a 1st. Yzerman is not making that trade. Goes to Larkin. “Need you to expand the list or I’m not trading you”. Larkin then either plays, sits, or expands.
