ನಿನ್ನೆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಸುಮಾರು 2 ಗಂಟೆ. ತಲೆ ನೋವು ತುಂಬಾ ಆಗ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಚಹಾ ಕುಡಿದ್ರೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಆಗಬಹುದು ಅಂತ ಯೋಚಿಸಿ, ಅವಲಹಳ್ಳಿಯಿಂದ ಹೋಸ್ಕೋಟೆ ಟೋಲ್ ಕಡೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ ಅಂತ ready ಆದೆ. Bike start ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ರಾತ್ರಿ ರಸ್ತೆ ಖಾಲಿ. ಗಾಳಿ ಕೂಡ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ವಿಚಿತ್ರವಾಗಿ ಬೀಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದೂರ ಹೋದ ತಕ್ಷಣ, ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಧ್ವನಿ ಕೇಳಿಸಿತು— “ನಾನೂ ಬರ್ತೀನಿ…” ಹೃದಯ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ನಿಂತ ಹಾಗಾಯಿತು. ಹಿಂದೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ನೋಡಿದೆ… ಯಾರೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಭಯದಿಂದ bike speed ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗ್ತಿದ್ದ. Drop ಕೇಳೋ ಹಾಗೆ ಕೈ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ರಾತ್ರಿ 2 ಗಂಟೆ, ಖಾಲಿ ರಸ್ತೆ… ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಭಯ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ಏನೋ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, bike ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಅವ್ರನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿಸಿಕೊಂಡೆ. ಆದರೆ ವಿಚಿತ್ರ ಏನು ಗೊತ್ತಾ? Bike ಮೇಲೆ ಯಾರೋ ಕುಳಿತ ಹಾಗೆ feel ಆಗಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. Weight ಇಲ್ಲ. Movement ಇಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಯಾರೋ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ ಅನ್ನೋ ಭಾವನೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಭಯ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಯಿತು. ಆ ಕ್ಷಣ ಮತ್ತೆ ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅದೇ ಧ್ವನಿ— “ನಿನಗೆ ಏನೂ ಆಗಲ್ಲ… ಭಯ ಪಡ್ಬೇಡ…” ಆ ಮಾತು ಕೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಏನೋ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಬಂತು. ಹಿಂದೆ ನೋಡದೆ, ಮಾತಾಡದೆ, ನೇರವಾಗಿ bike ಓಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಸ್ಕೋಟೆ ಟೋಲ್ ಗೆ ತಲುಪಿದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ bike ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಹಿಂದೆ ನೋಡಿದೆ. ಯಾರೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹತ್ತಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಇಳಿದ ಶಬ್ದವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹಿಂದೆ ಕುಳಿತ ಗುರುತು ಕೂಡ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಆಗ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ— ಅದು ನನ್ನ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮೆಯಾ? ಅಥವಾ ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಯಾರೋ ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ರಾ? ಕೆಲವು ಘಟನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರ ಸಿಗಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕೇಳಿದ ಆ ಧ್ವನಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಇನ್ನೂ ಕಿವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ— “ನಿನಗೆ ಏನೂ ಆಗಲ್ಲ… ಭಯ ಪಡ್ಬೇಡ…”
