When Peter Obi first became Governor, he was invited to an official meeting in Abuja. His aides prepared a list of about 30 people to accompany him, just as was customary for governors at the time. Another invitation came, and once again he traveled with a large entourage. By the third or fourth trip, however, Obi began to question the huge amount of money being spent on these journeys. He felt it was excessive and unnecessary. It was not his personal money being spent—it was government money, and the expenditure was legally approved. Yet, to Obi, it represented wasteful spending of public funds. He called his staff and requested a detailed list of everyone who traveled with him, along with their specific responsibilities. After reviewing the list, he concluded that most of the tasks assigned to those individuals were things he could handle himself. He even insisted on carrying his own bag rather than assigning someone to do it for him. He also reviewed the security arrangements. Instead of paying for multiple security personnel to travel back and forth at government expense, he reasoned that it would be more cost-effective to coordinate with the Inspector General of Police and use security personnel already available at his destination. Through this culture of prudence and careful management of public resources, Peter Obi was able to leave Anambra State with substantial savings, clear outstanding debts, invest heavily in schools and hospitals, pay workers’ salaries, pensions, and gratuities, and undertake major infrastructure projects. Under his administration, Anambra also recorded significant improvements in educational performance. This is the candidate we are presenting to Nigerians. We have taken the time to examine his record, his leadership style, and his achievements in public office. After careful consideration, we believe he stands out as one of the most capable leaders among those seeking public office. May Almighty Allah grant him the opportunity to serve Nigeria and the wisdom and strength to lead the country towards progress and prosperity. Ameen.

I usually come on X as a pass time, but when I see the realities of Nigerians, I end up sounding like a political activist. I just hope we will overcome eventually.

Yeah the latest episode of Wistoria was pure class. I am always a sucker for the acknowledgment phase of a Hero's journey. In general, season 2 has been good. Let's see where they go from here.

Tinubu's failure is so obvious that his people are not saying that he has not failed. They are saying that nobody can fix Nigeria and that everyone should give up on Nigeria. Those guys are pathetic.

You could literally be Former SEC chairman Former chairman of multiple banks Former bank Director And someone with less than 10 years of work experience will come online to say she's not impressed on your thoughts towards the economy and fiscal policy😂😂😂
Aside from his asinine supporters on here, this has been my issue with him from day one. I’ve listened to a lot of his interviews, and no, not agenda-driven edits, but full conversations. I’ve sat through him discussing the economy, his plans for it, and even his understanding of the structure of government and how it works. Each time, I’ve come away underwhelmed, and that’s me being charitable. I completely understand the burning desire to remove the government of the day, as well as the emotional and empathetic appeal he brings. But leading a multifaceted, highly complex emerging economy like Nigeria requires more than good intentions and public sympathy. Yet every time you point that out, a swarm of witless cretins floods your mentions with insults and abuse, as though that will somehow change your assessment or translate into votes at the ballot box. In any case, I wish all the candidates the very best come 2027. May the best ideas win, and may Nigeria be great again.

I just have two Questions. Did the commander in chief of the Armed Forces approve this? What is the chain of custody for these guys. Were they caught by the army and handed over to a state government? Because the whole thing is doing my head in.

My dear Obidient family, Kwankwasiyya brothers and sisters, and all well-meaning Nigerians, Let us not be distracted by events around the NDC and the emergence of our candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso as running mate. The APC, ADC and other opposition forces are uncomfortable because they see our growing strength. We may not like every driver of this NDC vehicle, but this is about rescuing Nigeria, not comfort. Peter Obi remains the best option to reset our country towards prosperity. Let us calm our tensions, especially within the Obidient movement. Extend understanding, build a peaceful working relationship with the party, and focus our energy on delivering victory for this ticket. #NigeriaWillBeOK

Looking at the 2023 election results, Peter Obi’s clearest path to victory appears to be a three-way contest. A head-to-head race changes voter behavior significantly. Many northern voters who may never support Obi could split between Tinubu and Atiku, while in the South, sentiments around power rotation mean some voters who wouldn’t back Atiku may still choose Tinubu. In effect, Tinubu and Atiku draw support from different blocs that might not automatically transfer to one another. That’s why calls for a grand opposition coalition may sound attractive on paper but could produce unintended electoral outcomes. Politics isn’t just about adding votes together. It’s about understanding where those votes go when a candidate leaves the race.
First of many SBM polls drops: @officialABAT at -58.5, @PeterObi at 58.3. But turnout flips the script. The real question? Will Nigerians brave hunger and bandits to vote? Stay tuned, this is just the first one. 🇳🇬🗳️ sbmintelligence.substack.com… #NigeriaDecides2027 #SBMVST

It is actually better Atiku stays in the race for Obi. The only place he is leading now is in the North East. And I suspect if he wasn’t there, more of his vote will go to BAT than Obi/Kwankwaso. And even his vote in the NW will break more for BAT than Obi. And like I said, he has no presence in the South this time. All in all good for Obi.

Mr. Dickson should be smart enough to know that, if after your interview, the opposition is using your clips to push agenda then you need a circumspect. There’s no National headline in 2014 that read “TINUBU: I am more qualified to run for President than Buhari” Drop the Ego.📌

Quick advice! Drop that Old politician ego… it doesn’t work in the new Nigeria these young people are trying to build. Atiku is where he is today because of his ego. You will go far without it. Thank you.
Last night, I had an interview with Arise TV, where I sympathised with our aspirants over some noticeable irregularities in our just-concluded primaries. I noted that, while not claiming that the exercise was perfect, I urged all of them to bear with the party in view of the circumstances we are managing, which have overwhelmed even bigger parties. This includes parties with a sitting President, 33 Governors, and control of political structures in most states, in the case of the APC, and even the ADC, which is over two years old. I made the case that we are just four months old and have been thrown into the middle of a very tight electoral timeframe, within which we had to carry out membership registration, congresses up to the national convention, primaries up to the national convention, appeal processes, and now the reconciliation phase. I identified the root cause of these challenges, my views on the Electoral Act have been clear: the APC-led majority were wrong in foisting compulsory direct primaries on political parties and the country. Complaints about irregularities in direct primaries are pervasive across all parties and are not peculiar to the NDC. As a matter of fact, considering the age of the NDC and the teeming number of aspirants we have had to manage, we have done quite well. For months since the formation of the NDC, I have been building confidence and receiving respected politicians into its fold. Since the primaries I have been attending to people and managing disagreements across the country on a daily basis. The NDC is on the ascendancy, and I thank Nigerians for their trust and confidence in our party. Even these challenges, which are not peculiar to us, will pass. I also noted that no party has announced any set of winners from its primaries, and neither has the NDC. The public should disregard any such claims in circulation, especially on social media, and await the party's formal submissions through the appropriate channels. The results of party primaries are not announced like school results; they are communicated through formal channels. I thank all our members for their abiding support. In anticipation of these challenges, the 2nd NEC meeting, held a few days ago, approved the composition of a Reconciliation Committee to work with state caucus leaders and other stakeholders in managing grievances. As I have stated before, this is our first set of primaries, and it will also be the last to be conducted manually. The next primaries will be technologically driven and will have none of these issues. I thank all supporters of our party, which has no government officials and is entirely self-funded. I appreciate their donations, contributions, and sacrifices made on behalf of the party. They remain valuable members of our party regardless of the outcome of the primaries. We are in this together, and we are all committed to ensuring the success of our party and our presidential team, their Excellencies Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who are my colleagues in this project. This success must be managed carefully, with everyone working together. I advise all members and supporters to avoid meaningless quarrels and infighting. Everyone should support our candidates, from the Presidency down to the least elective office. I urge all the stakeholders, caucus leaders and other leaders in various states who coordinated the primaries to take responsibility and step up their game in terms of coordiating the reconciliation process. Most of the candidates are persons backed and recommended by them, and not me nor the national leadership of the party. It is not a time to shift blames or dodge responsibilities. Since they midwifed and managed the process of the primaries, they should equally help in supporting the party in coordinating the reconciliation process, of which they have the support of the party. ~HSD
