Had a blast sharing our term side-population work at #SRI2023! Time to celebrate with #theFeatles Down under tour 😜 Thanks to @drjojames as always for the guidance and placenta wisdom! and luv u @AnanditaU, best conference buddy ever!! #TeamPlacenta is soo supportive 😭❀️
So proud to watch @cherrysun606 shine as she presents our data on side-population trophoblasts/TSCs and how she is driving this work forward in her PhD πŸ‘πŸ‘ #nailedit #SRI2023

Have had the most amazing time at @ESASRB and #ANZPRA22 over the past week with #jameslab. Meeting new people, talking science and generally just having loads of fun. Couldn't ask for anything more 😊 #teamplacenta

Come chat about our search for the ever elusive trophoblast stem cell in the third trimester placenta 😊 #IFPA2021

P2.70 is @cherrysun606 with "Optimising culture conditions of third trimester side-population trophoblasts". In her PhD Cherry is building on our first trimester work to develop culture and differentiation protocols to study functional differences in stem cells at term.

Do you really know your placental MSCs? Happy this work by my stellar PhD student @AnnaBoss100 is finally out! Watch this space - this is really just the prologue of her @HRCNewZealand funded work on placental core progenitors.
Paper published πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ’ͺ🏼 πŸ™Œ Media matters! Culture conditions affect mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) purity and phenotype. Get to know your MSCs! doi.org/10.1016/j.placenta.2…

Great idea! I’ve been collecting figures that might be reused under the #figures tag, with caption in the same block to retrieve later β€” need to try this out πŸ‘
Nerdy Roam Tip 😁 - Create a page titled "![" (without the quotes) - The unlinked references are all of the images you've put in your Roam database. Why it works Those are the first two Markdown characters for creating an image link.

Paper alert: We’ve used the side-population technique to isolate cells with TSC differentiation capacity directly from placenta (no prolonged culture). Using this method we can also isolate them from term, and they are reduced 10-fold in FGR. @TeenaGamage doi.org/10.1007/s12015-020-0…

Testing a new system that tells me at a glance (which is all anyone has time for) what cells I have in culture requiring my care, days in culture so far, and specific todos (conveniently becomes a lab record afterwards) @CultRoam @RoamResearch #roamresearchforscience

One-on-one @RoamResearch tours have become one of my new favorite activities. Caught up with @seanlinehan and not only did we get to bond over #RoamCult nerdiness, but I also found out @RoamResearch is effectively the original World Wide Web reincarnate A THREAD 1/9

MSCs from FGR placentae are less angiogenic - a cause of impaired vascularisation? Our latest @HRCNewZealand funded paper is a #jameslab team effort led by the work of @AnanditaU with input from @cherrysun606 @AnnaBoss100 @TeenaGamage. πŸ™Œ doi.org/10.1007/s12015-020-0…

Soaked up all this advice as a placenta newbie! πŸ‘©β€πŸ« Applies to all the baby scientists out there!
At @ESHRE in Vienna earlier this year myself and some of the other Associate Editors from the Human Reproduction journals shared our best career advice for young researchers - hear what we had to say here: bit.ly/ESHRE-career-advice #storytelling #persistence

Congrats to my PhD student @cherrysun606 on her award of an AMRF Scholarship! πŸ₯‚ Thanks @MedResearchNZ for supporting Cherry in her exciting work using stem cells to better understand why the placentas of growth restricted babies don't function as well as they should.
