This Otis elevator at the Biltmore house in NC was built 125 years ago in 1895. It still runs on the original motor, and Otis still maintains it. Talk about building a lasting business.

Be honest, do you think AI might replace your current job and tasks within the next 10 years?
Bill Gates just shattered the myth of "AI-proof" careers: Doctors and teachers are next. With 86,000 medical jobs at risk by 2036, Gates predicts "humans won't be needed for most things." But he did identify 3 surprising exceptions:

College degrees in America exploded between 1960 to 1990 and continued to grow. In 1930 only 3% had a 4 year degree and less than 1% had a graduate degree. Our great grandparents simply didn’t go to college.

One of the most ironic things that happens in my line of work is meeting with a founder who says, “nahh I don’t need coaching.” Then, after our 30 minute meeting they send a note that says something like, “hey thanks for that free tip you gave, it saved me X headache or made me $X.” And they still don’t think they’d benefit from coaching.

One of my clients had $7 million in revenue last year. Another had $1.8 million revenue. Which business would you rather own? The one with $1.8 million made 3x the profit of the $7 million business. Now which one would you rather own?

Client down in Atlanta just described ChatGPT as “it’s like having Chris Cloud follow you around in your pocket.” And I’m not sure whether to cry or laugh. Darn AI taking my job already lol

As someone who was homeschooled until late high school, it’s interesting to see it becoming more mainstream. When I was a kid it was mostly groups of fringe radical religious groups or hippies homeschooling.

The surveillance state with artificial intelligence monitoring everything you do, say, and maybe even think in the world might be one of the most important civil liberty issues of our day.
Oracle's Larry Ellison says “citizens will be on their best behavior” with an AI surveillance system

It’s interesting that after the Great Resignation of 2020-2022 and people seeking more meaning and freedom in their work, Gallup reported employee engagement was at a 10 year low in 2024, at 31%. I wonder if most actually ended up in a similar situation as before, or if many just decided to disengage, or maybe both. What do you think?

It’s been said that, “A” students go on to become professors, and “B” students go on to work for “C” students. Probably some truth to that lol

After lots of years of meeting people in the business setting, I can quickly tell if someone is going to be a giver, a taker, or a net neutral. You can too. It’s amazing how many people are takers and never look to give. Whether that be connections, ideas, resources, or help in any way. Met with someone today who just took and took and took and never even once was curious or sought to be helpful. That’s ok, I was happy to help him and I don’t expect anything in return. Coaching Moment: If you are a taker or a net neutral know that your influence and ability to build a trusting business partnerships is always going to be limited. Learn how to win friends and influence people. Be curious. Be interested. Make it about them not you. What have you found to be helpful?

A friend of mine, age 48 started having some issues, it was determined he had a brain tumor in August last year and he passed in November after unsuccessful surgery and treatment. He was a banker, and today I saw his job posted. This is your reminder that it is just a job, don’t let it rule your life.

I’m telling you, Having coached many individuals who haven’t developed sales skills, versus having coached those who have developed sales skills, It’s a night and day difference. Those without sales skills are always hampered, handicapped in a way. Those with sales skills are almost unstoppable, especially if they develop leadership skills. If you’re an entrepreneur or leader, one of the best skills you can ever develop, with the highest return on investment, is sales. Learn sales and you’ll be more effective in almost every aspect.
