The All-Party Group on Access to Justice held its Annual General Meeting this week, electing office bearers to lead the group through the year ahead. We congratulate those elected and thank all MLAs who took part. The cross-party nature of this group is one of its strengths, and we are pleased to see that reflected in the leadership chosen: Chair - @stewartcdickson Vice-Chairperson - @ciaraf44 Treasurer - @BeattieDoug Secretary - Maurice Bradley MLA The group looks forward to a productive year in 2026-27 — engaging with elected representatives, the legal professions, and wider stakeholders on the issues that matter most to access to justice in Northern Ireland. The All Party Group Secretariat, The Bar of Northern Ireland and The Law Society of Northern Ireland, look forward to supporting the group in the year ahead and helping to ensure that the most pressing issues facing access to justice in Northern Ireland can be heard and discussed. ⚖️

Last night's attack in North Belfast was horrific. My thoughts are with the injured man and all those who responded at the scene. I want to recognise the bravery of members of the local community and the PSNI who put their own safety at risk in an effort to stop this vicious attack. I've been in regular contact with representatives on the ground and with the Police throughout the day, and I'll continue to offer my full support to the local community.

This morning I have spoken with the Chief Constable and will remain in contact with him over the coming period. I would urge people to give the PSNI the space it needs to carry out a full investigation so that justice can be done.

Workers deserve to keep 100% of the tips they earn. Yet the DUP is blocking the Good Jobs Bill which would guarantee that. It’s time for Emma Little Pengelly to stop blocking this bill and denying support to workers.

Emma Little Pengelly and the DUP are blocking the Good Jobs Bill which will introduce carers’ leave. This would ensure workers can take time off to care for their loved ones. This bill will be transformative for workers and their families. The DUP blocking must stop.
