Writing #picturebooks is like assembling IKEA furniture: confusing instructions, missing pieces, and a deep sense of accomplishment when it's finally done. #kidlit And inevitably, it needs a good tightening every couple of months! #amwriting #WritingCommunity

Some of my #picturebooks have gone through over 20 revisions. #kidlit writers, do you keep ALL your revisions? Or do you scrap some of the early versions??

Does anyone have trouble being creative with your writing while feeling under the weather? I’m finding it very difficult to create anything with any complexity…even on a #mglit level. It surprises me that I need my whole brain to write a book for an 8 year old! #kidlit

Wrote zero words last night. Wrote several in my head and my phone though. My wife had a colonoscopy, and I’m packing to move…sometimes things happen that move up the priority list. I’ll write double tomorrow. 4,000–here I come! #kidlit #middlegradefiction

I wrote 2,000 words last night, hitting my daily goal. I’m trying to stop in the middle of an action sequence so it’s always easy to pick it up the next day and keep going. That’s actually helping a lot! #kidlit friends, you should definitely try this!! Game changer!!

These are my favourite #MiddleGrade (still hate that term) so far this year (2025) Not just great children’s books but great books fullstop.

Here’s a student request that turned out to be super popular in the school library. It’s the perfect fiction story for non-fiction science and space enthusiasts who are reluctant to venture into narrative formats. A ROVER’S STORY by Jasmine Warga #middlegrade #booklover
