There's a difference between maintaining high standards and perfectionism. One drives you forward to do the best you can do. The other grinds you down as you fight for the unattainable. I engaged in both in three long weeks on a client report. Know what "doing your best" means.

Arriving at my computer to start work this morning, I find that yes, a Slack meeting you forgot to leave can indeed last 12 hours and 42 minutes.

Today I'm going to remove the Twitter app from my phone, and use it only from my laptop web browser instead. Will see how it goes.

Any #garlic growing experts out there? My patch has leaves over 13 in / 33 cm tall. I planted the cloves on 20 Dec. Leaves above ground ten days later. Weeks of temps reaching 70°F/21°C. After, some nights at 15F/-9C. How cold must the SOIL stay for good bulbs to form?

How many YEARS have I been telling customers they can't trust input data from client browsers, that client side validation is insufficient? I'm reading another security audit report from a 3rd party, and thus far it contains everything we said they should expect to see in it.

Imagine a fish, fins extended, bracing itself in a crevice on some rocks against the current of a swift river. I am the fish. Surrounded, immersed, unsteady fintip to rock, in the unending, relentless flow... ... of email.

No kidding! This is how technical debt is truly handled. I see the effects of this week in, week out.
Why refactor your code and keep up with dependency deprecations when you can get a new job every 3 years to avoid your own technical debt?

I have a feeling I'm not the only person who hates Fortinet VPN software. Or their documentation. Or their online forums.

New record. Client with #php error log maxing out at 2GB every ~15 days. Lots of easily-fixed low-hanging fruit in there, however, which is most often what we see.

Serious question: Do you enjoy a cup of #tea or #coffee in the morning, or do you NEED a cup to get going?
