Feels strange that the World Cup starts tonight yet our first game isn’t for 6 days.
Also feel this is a major disadvantage. Being in the last group, to win it we’ll need to play 8 games in 33 days. In Group A or B, it’s 8 games in 38. This is a huge difference!

I completely agree that Madueke shouldn’t be in the squad. And I agree that Rio looks a special talent.
But, Rio ordinarily plays on the left, only played on the right last night as no Saka & Noni yet. If Rio was to be in the squad, it would have to be over Gordon or Rashford….

At the Euros England started with trying Trent with Rice, then Conor Gallagher, and eventually Southgate realised it had to be Kobbie Mainoo.
It’ll obviously be Elliot Anderson v Croatia, but Mainoo will come and start at some point, then keep his place, just like 2 years ago!
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again Kobbie Mainoo will start a game at the World Cup. He’s just a step ahead of some of these guys.

France lost to Ivory Coast.
Spain drew to Iraq.
We played 2 different XIs in the first game acclimatising to the heat. Successful evening in my book.
