Greenland snow melt is so far slightly subdued, consistent with the 'see-saw' between Europe and Greenland. Europe warm generally means Greenland cold. This time around it IS the case, I was in the NW of Greenland and it was gloomy cold while friends in Denmark were enjoying an early summer. The UK and Southern Europe was meanwhile baking. data HT G. Picard, method: doi.org/10.1016/j.rse.2006.0…

Skiing is still very much a possibility in Scotland. Yesterday, @Rory_Fermor went to Aonach Beag to take advantage of the late-spring conditions.

lack of post glacial rebound plus so-called gravitational fingerprints from polar ice reduction means it’s the tropics (where most people live) that will endure the highest rates of sea level rise.🌊 doi.org/10.1029/2010GL044770

In 2025, glaciers across Europe lost more ice than they gained. Freezing winter days declined. In March 2025, the snow-covered area was ~1.32 million km² below ave. (roughly the size of France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland & Austria combined) #ESOTC2025 👉 bit.ly/ESOTC2025

As an environmental scientist, I have to admit that 56 #earthday have not achieved sufficient nature protection. I’ve been contemplating for 4 years now on an alternative approach; market based solutions. My conclusion: Without separating money from state, sustaining nature is essentially hopeless. An easy example, with the separation, war is exposed as unaffordable and nature has a better chance to sustain itself. Nature has value that can be better accounted when money is not perpetuatually debased by central bank money issuance out of nothing. The fiat money era need end. Thanks for your attention in this matter. 🌎🌍🌏

We humans have a land centric perspective bias. The climate heating story is best told by the insane ocean heat content increase. Global cooling is not in the pipeline even if AMOC continues to collapse.
The ocean continued to warm in 2025, reaching record high levels. It is expected that the ocean will continue to warm well into the future – a change which is irreversible for hundreds to thousands of years. Check out the #StateOfClimate 2025: bit.ly/StateOfClimate2025sto…

It's very remarkable how well climate predictions from decades ago have held up. Retrospectively comparing future model projections to observations provides a robust test of accuracy. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.…

🚨The most important graph in the world has another year of data, and it doesn't look good!🚨 @NASA CERES satellites measure how much sunlight Earth absorbs and how much heat is radiated back to space. The difference is heat accumulation, which has more than tripled!
