This is why Colbert is no longer funny (and why shows like Gutfeld!, for that matter, are also lame). Comedy is not about “speaking truth to power,” “telling uncomfortable truths,” or any of the other pious nonsense people routinely spout about the subject these days. It’s about telling jokes, that’s all. And the reason jokes are funny is (according to the most plausible traditional account of the nature of humor) because of the incongruities they convey – which needn’t involve saying anything that is actually true, or challenging anyone in power. 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝟱.𝟮𝟭.𝟮𝟲 𝟬𝟲:𝟱𝟯 𝗣𝗠 𝗘𝗦𝗧 Big Vote today (48-1!) in the Energy and Commerce Committee on a Bill including The Sunshine Protection Act, which will be making Daylight Saving Time Permanent! This is so important in that Hundreds of Millions of Dollars are spent every year by people, Cities, and States, being forced to change their Clocks. Many of these Clocks are located in Towers, and the cost of renting, or using, Heavy Equipment to do this twice a year is prohibitive! The House will be attaching The Sunshine Protection Act to “The Highway Bill.” Great work by Troy Nehls, and all of the Members who voted, as well, for Railway Safety. I am going to work very hard to see The Sunshine Protection Act signed into Law. It’s time that people can stop worrying about the “Clock,” not to mention all of the work and money that is spent on this ridiculous, twice yearly production. It will also be a very nice WIN for the Republican Party. Take it! We are going with the far more popular alternative, Saving Daylight, which gives you a longer, brighter Day — And who can be against that — This is an easy one! This is easy to explain: - Fewer religious people period, including religious extremists, pushing fringe lifestyles on their kids - Fewer people spanking their kids (also related to point one) - People are having kids later. The adults brains are fully formed, their less emotional and reactive than parents used to be. - Parents are having kids when they're more financially stable. There's less stress in the home, more assistance, and more fun. The birth rate decline on a micro level is actually almost entirely positive. It just sucks if you're a chud trying to baby trap young women or a government roach that needs wage slaves to prop up your pyramid scheme programs.

When a human being dances, he’s reaching up toward something sublime, letting the music draw his natural form upward into grace. Even if it’s a pop song like Billie Jean, even if it’s a desperately troubled human like Michael Jackson. When he stumbles, the eye reads the fall as a fall from grace—just like we can’t help but read death as something unnatural tugging a soul that was made for life down into the dust. When a robot dances, even if it dances amusingly and well, it’s being prodded into an uncanny mimicry of something that’s not congruent with its matter, like an amputated limb galvanized by electricity into a sudden jolt of movement. When it falls, we see its true nature: inert, lifeless, mere stuff. The intuition tracks what the eye alone can’t see, which is why you’ll notice no one has the impulse to get up and help the robot the way they might a man. It’s the difference between raw matter being pushed up from below against gravity, and spirit reaching down to draw matter up into the dance. Also it’s freaking hilarious.
