#B329WK16 #ActivistLeadership thrives on purpose. Without purpose, there can be no leadership. By challenging the traditional notion of who leads, we can harness the power of purpose to drive collective action and change. @B329Leadership @gricedOU @RhodesGeri20246

#B329WK15 Resistance in the workplace can manifest in many forms. From the overt actions of strikes to more the subtle acts of mockery. Leaders who anticipate resistance can leverage it as an opportunity to drive positive change. @B329Leadership @gricedOU @RhodesGeri20246

#B329WK14 True leadership lies not in personal feats but rather collective successes, particularly in tackling #WickedChallenges that demand collaborative efforts to prevent them from manifesting into the ‘super-wicked’ @B329Leadership @gricedOU @RhodesGeri20246 @B329Leadership

#B329 WK12. Striving for 'win-win' scenarios is a noble trait of a good leader. However, the leadership journey often confronts us with the complexities of zero sum or negative sum outcomes. Balancing these realities is key for effective leadership @B329Leadership @gricedOU

#B329 WK11. The complicity of his flock in harbouring a danger within can prove more perilous to a shepherd than the overt presence of a wolf. To avoid such pitfalls, the shepherd must encourage #ConstructiveDissent and not be over-reliant on herding. @B329Leadership @gricedOU

#B329 WK10 It is not enough to be the king; your power is interdependent with your subjects. You can strengthen your position by becoming a #relational leader, and even then, you may have to use your regal #charisma to win your people over and lead. @B329Leadership @gricedOU

#B329 WK9. At times, we need to step away from a 'tug of war' mindset and move towards collaborating with competing teams. Nonetheless, a key trait of an effective #collaborative leader is the ability to pull more than they push.@B329Leadership @gricedOU @RhodesGeri20246

#B329 WK8. Growing up in Birmingham, I've been privileged to experience a multitude of cultures. Just as communities thrive when #diversity is valued, companies can also benefit by utilising #boundaryless leadership and fostering #inclusivity. @B329Leadership @gricedOU

#B329 WK7. An invaluable lesson drawn from this weeks topic on #identity #leadership. It is not of importance of who I perceive myself to be, but rather, what others perceive me to be. @B329Leadership @gricedOU

#OUB329 WK4 - #Cultures are deep rooted and symbolic of our status quo. However, in an inclusive business landscape, leaders, swayed by their own national culture, who avoid #diversity risk withering the collective success of their organisations. @B329Leadership @gricedOU

Emotions play a significant role in the leadership of change. As well as being powerful tools of persuasion and influence, emotions ground us in humanity. Yet they're often undervalued & underdiscussed. Ten emotions that can provide a driving force towards positive change: 1) Frustration: can lead to groundbreaking ideas 2) Regret: can show us what to do differently next time 3) Enthusiasm: the most effective change leaders are evangelical about the world they're building 4) Devotion: full-bodied unapologetic commitment to someone else's success 5) Happiness: the power of sparking joy at work 6) Discomfort: good things can happen when we leave our comfort zone 7) Anger: understanding what's underneath it is often a good place to start change 8) Joy: can fuel success 9) Fellowship: other people who will help us when we need to get back up 10) Grace: making space for our own flawed humanity before we can open up the circle to others hbr.org/2023/10/10-emotions-…. #OUB329 WK3 - Lost is an era, once graced by #charismatic leaders like #NelsonMandela, a true #populist. Instead, we witness a rise in actors who claim to be saviours of the "people" using false fallacies. @B329Leadership @gricedOU @RhodesGeri20246 @LahibaSaee89798

#OUB329 WK2 - Covering the concept of #precarity this week, has left me feeling quite unsettled. It's been disheartening to learn of how vast groups have little or no #agency over their own financial, and thus, physical well-being. @B329Leadership @gricedOU @RhodesGeri20246

Adaptive leadership means shifting from being the leader who “knows it all” to the leader who's a “learn it all.” Five critical leadership skills for creating an environment in which learning things the organisation does not know how to do is valued over implementing flawlessly what it knows already: 1) Cross-cutting: leaders with more diverse networks create more value for the organisation. 2) Collaborating: fostering psychological safety to increase team performance. 3) Coaching: having critical conversations that develop others’ potential, 4) Culture shaping: shaping organisational culture by changing processes & systems. 5) Connecting: growing in empathy and authentic leadership. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/….
