Late Twitchcon tweet but it was a blast seeing the @MCChampionship_ event in person and meeting some people from the community. Would love to go again at some point!
1 month later, Badlion has made some improvements after working together with @ScrubBadlion. The client brand is now set to badlion, the resource pack prompt is being sent and there's various rendering issues getting fixed.
It's 2024 and unlike every other major client (Lunar, Feather, even Optifine nowadays), @BadlionClient still does not set the client brand to something identifiable, or provide any other way to identify Badlion users to servers. (1/2)
It's 2024 and unlike every other major client (Lunar, Feather, even Optifine nowadays), @BadlionClient still does not set the client brand to something identifiable, or provide any other way to identify Badlion users to servers. (1/2)
This is noticably problematic, as Badlion doesn't tend to play nicely with resource pack servers, where either things don't render properly or in this case the resource pack doesn't even ever get sent to the client (reproducable on both MCCI & Origin Realms). (2/2)
And from a server owner perspective, it makes it impossible to track client usage for analytics purposes. It also prevents you from improving the player experience as you cannot send messages or alternative resource packs to Badlion users.

Not publishing to Raycast store yet as there's some things that need to be worked out before that.
Cooked up a long term alternative to Minetrack with more data and I figured that people that follow me would be interested in this: blockgametracker.iptables.sh
Current public alternatives only show you a limited amount of data but I intend to store and show as much data as possible.
Almost 3 months of data were collected; 616 million datapoints and only 185MiB storage was used. For comparison: Minetrack's latest 4 month data dump is 0.8GB compressed and only collects data for 1/5th of the servers.
Memory checkpointing is a cool concept that certain Minecraft servers could potentially take advantage of. A short demo where I suspend a Minecraft server and unsuspend it later on (in <1s). ๐งต
