Spending my last afternoon of 2025 trying to sleep before the NYE night shift amongst the din of neighbours doing DIY and other neighbours screaming and shouting pretty much sums up my year really. But, we made it! Here’s to a better 2026 🤞

Kicking off Advent by spending a lazy morning in bed listening to Radio 3 Carols Across the Country with a sudoku and the first Christmas tea of the season. Looking forward to an epic sing later for our Advent Procession. One of the best days of the year ✨

First “proper walk” since my terrible sacroiliitis flare in September, and it was worth the long wait. Saw a 550 year old tree, and soaked up some late autumnal colours in the sunshine.

Having my exams out of the way (for now) means I’m pretty much back to singing every week, and what an absolute joy it is. Vierne Messe Solonelle and Parry My Soul this evening for Remembrance - what a treat! Now forward towards Advent!

After nearly 2 months recovering from a terrible sacroiliitis flare, I managed to play tennis today. I may live to regret this later, but it’s a big step towards getting back to “normal”. Huge gratitude to my amazing GP, the rheumatology physio and celecoxib!

Absolutely RIDICULOUS new payment system at Leicester station car park. I needed 48 hours from 10:30am today. The only two options - “2 days” which actually only runs to 02:30 on Monday, or a whole week (for £45). Please sort it out @EastMidRailway.

After a really unexpected health curveball while on annual leave, resulting in some sick leave this weekend, I’m feeling pretty apprehensive about going back to work life. There is absolutely no certainty about how things will pan out - just got to take it a step at a time 💪

Unfortunately I've had a lot of contact with the NHS recently as both a pt and a relative. And while hospital care has been patchy, primary care has been totally faultless. Huge shout out to the wonderful GPs out there doing an amazing job despite everything - you are ace!

Had a hospital appt this morning. Saw the nurse, then consultant, had bloods and picked up meds, and was in and out within 1.5 hours, but had a detailed consultation. This appointment came just 13 days after referral (urgent but not a 2WW). Absolutely excellent care all round!

For the first time in my career, I’m not having a last minute ARCP panic and instead have everything ready with several days to spare. So today, I’m treating myself to a blissful day off in the sunshine in what was one of the contingency admin days.
