So many people have changed their worldview in the past decade, to be less liberal.
It isn't because of audience capture. It's because the past decade is when we finally got the empirical results in from the grand experiment of what would happen if we organized all of society - not just the government but every aspect of life - according to liberal principles. What would happen if most people were raised without serious religion or tradition, and if we elevated fairness and non-judgement to the most important organizing principles of life?
Would that be good or bad? Most intelligent people theorized that it would be good.
Well, we actually ran that experiment for the 50 years from 1956 to 2015, and now we finally have the empirical answer. And the answer is unambiguously, shockingly bad. Worse than almost anyone had imagined. It has given us castrated and spayed children, yuppie corporate lawyers firebombing police cars, government and corporate censorship of simple facts on an unprecedented scale, weaponized rape enthusiastically celebrated in the streets and on elite campuses, children kept out of elementary school for two years in some places, and so many other dystopian outcomes.
Of course millions upon millions of people changed their worldview after the results came in! How could they not?
Vivid illustration of audience capture.
