Been building my first ever client project for 2 weeks now. A spa salon product website. Pure HTML, CSS & JS. No frameworks, no build tools. Just fundamentals.
Today I hit a performance wall 28 images at 1β5MB each and hero videos at 36MB . would've been painfully slow.

Fixed it with zero extra tools. Just macOS built-ins:
β sips to batch compress all 28 images to max 1200px @ 75% quality
β avconvert with PresetAppleM4VCellular to re-encode videos
Result:
β’ Images: 5.7MB β 393KB (avg 8Γ smaller)
β’ Hero video: 36MB β 848KB (40Γ smaller)

No ffmpeg. No sharp. No webpack. Just the terminal and what ships with macOS.

One thing that gives me joy is, even when I exhaust every AI model for coding, I can still keep building on my own. Strong fundamentals will always outlive tools. Master the basics in any language when AI canβt help, your knowledge will carry you.
