Also forgot to mention this was while I was working on other projects. It CAN be done
I upgraded 10 services from .NET Core 3/5 to .NET 10 in 6 months. A far larger effort than 8 to 10. The biggest headache were the Azure Functions from v3 to v4. If it takes you 7 months you need to improve your process

I don’t understand how it takes 7 months to upgrade from .NET 8 to 10. All of the dependencies don’t need to target 10 to use it with 10, a common point of confusion

Assuming Anthropic is able to restore Fable in the next few days, there's literally zero point doing any meaningful work until it is back. What can be done in 100 hours with Opus can be done in 1 with Fable. Hopefully this is figured out quickly.

Thankfully I created my plan with Fable this afternoon and exported it to hand off to Opus 🫡
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Take it a step further. When does the U.S. nationalize labs for being more powerful than the government When do export controls go on the cutting edge models to prevent assisting adversaries?

These models are also bad at comments/doc comments. Too many references to different layers, spaghettified. Comments need to make sense locally. Needing to understand the architecture 3 levels up in one file is bad.
One thing I really dislike about the newer Anthropic models is how absolutely full of jargon the messages to humans are - this is unintelligible to me. Codex / ChatGPT is much more terse and understandable by comparison.

Is Anthropic is gaming the Fable benchmarks? Something seems off about it.

Why is it always the people with nice cars are the dumbest drivers?

Moving Dotty to the starling-browser repo and restructuring it to be an embeddable .NET terminal instead of a fully featured terminal -- better suiting what I need. It's on GitHub!

Working on extracting a native windowing host from a private demo I've been working on. (yes it's .NET, why do you even ask at this point?)

(the demo == this shell that takes Blazor and paints it directly on a GPU surface), also the native shell demo for starling

Steady progress: x.com loads in < 1.6GB now, and is slowly starting to look like a website with the Starling renderer!

I am pleased to announce day 1 support for Anthropic Fable 5 in Netclaw, because we aren't absolute clowns and source our model catalogs directly from their upstream providers so this is literally never a problem with our platform. Please, pretend it's a huge accomplishment and give us lots of likes and retweets.

I spent three hours writing a vision / mission doc for Starling. It turned out to be about 250 words. I wrote stuff, had an agent proofread and polish, wrote some more stuff, repeat the cycle. I added illustrative sentences, had an agent polish. Who wrote it?
