AI assistance doesn’t scale if every line requires human review. You need to trust the AI. Trust doesn’t mean blind faith. It means setting up guardrails such as tests, automatic review, and monitoring, that flag issues so that you don’t have to watch every step.
When you feel as if you can’t trust the output, don’t compensate by switching to manually reviewing the code. Add a system that makes that step trustworthy, such as creating a review agent that flags issues.
the thing about loops is that you need to build trust first. a low trust loop is just a waste of tokens. and if you don't apply engineering taste, the slop really compounds. but you can become a quality loop enjoyer too with pstack as a starting point: github.com/cursor/plugins/tr…
use these skills to write automations that automatically triage, repro, fix, and verify their own work while you touch grass. use them to prototype new ideas and refactor your code and trust that they'll do things the right way

The future role of the software engineer is using AI to translate informal requirements into high level formal specs, and reviewing those. The AI implements the specs, and verifies against the formal spec using a theorem prover. The human is there so we can blame them when things go wrong; the human's job is to ensure the formal spec is correct; that is the code they review. If it seems wrong, they tell the AI and discuss. The human writes nothing but natural language.

I just released Expressive!
It provides typed objects for Eloquent, converting Eloquent models into typed PHP objects and converting those objects back into Eloquent models when the application needs to persist data.
Eloquent remains responsible for querying, relationships, casts, visibility rules, mass assignment, and database writes. Expressive gives the rest of your application a typed object boundary without replacing Eloquent.
