Why doesn’t iPhone have a silent on/off status indicator? I sometimes forget to take it off of silent mode and miss calls. It’s a very basic thing to have!

A cross platform desktop application or a web UI running a local web server? The former is more intuitive but maintenance nightmare while the latter is less appealing but easy to maintain. Does it mater for the user? Thoughts?
