A gentle reminder: I only post here, as little as I can, in an attempt to potentially reach people who I think have lost their way, especially given the state of current events. I don't enjoy putting on the hazmat suit.
"That, Atwood said, is what he wants. “I want all of us to live the dream and have the pursuit. We’re denying people even the pursuit of happiness. This is outrageous. And un-American.”" news.virginia.edu/content/te…
"Now more than ever, I think it's important to realize that we've given everyone a Gutenberg printing press that reaches every other human on the planet. At first blush, that sounds amazing. Wow, everybody can talk to everybody! But then the terror sets in: Oh, my God. Everybody can talk to everybody – this is a nightmare." writethatblog.substack.com/p…
This is so smart and generous @codinghorror!
Well done. Proud of you even though I don't know you 😊.
Tech founder pledges to give away half his wealth to make the American dream more possible msn.com/en-us/money/smallbus…
After years of pretending to be Democrats, Big Tech leaders are now pretending to be Republicans, in hopes of currying favor with the new administration. Beware of the scummy monopoly campaign to vilify competition law as they rip off consumers and crush competitors.
I wish we saw more of this sort of quiet, positive civic engagement from the tech industry.
I would pick different charities than @codinghorror did, and articulate a non-identical version of the American Dream, but as he points out, public-spiritedness itself matters the most.
It's funny how a quick phone call can turn into a fun 24hr turn around of a site!
Happy to refresh a really classic site for @codinghorror, based on the @Ghost Source theme.

I Fight For The Users: a post in support of migrating away from Twitter and generating funds for The Trevor Project. Please bid as you see fit for a good cause! infosec.exchange/@codinghorr… -- this will be my last post on Twitter 👋
Sneak preview. I'll be auctioning 10 of these (really, REALLY heavy) brass plaques on eBay soon to celebrate the Twitter diaspora. All profits to the charity that annoys Elon Musk the most.
Over the last 6 months, our product and engineering teams have had the pleasure of working with these brilliant minds: @codinghorror, @LeaVerou, @benawad, @shaundai, @rauschma, @cassidoo and @wesbos 👨💻👩💻🧠
