VP of Distribution Operations, Jeremy Smith, is with crews today as they replace poles and reattach wire damaged by recent storms. From vegetation damage to full pole replacements, these repairs are critical after a year that’s already brought 140 tornadoes to Illinois—the highest count in the country. That's why we're continuing to invest in a stronger grid to keep your power safe and reliable. To track restoration progress, please visit: ComEd.com/OutageTracker.

If you're still without power, we want you to know, you have not been forgotten. We recognize that being without power affects every part of your daily life. That weight is not lost on us. This has been the most damaging storm since the 2020 Derecho. Large trees are down across equipment and blocking access to neighborhoods with restoration needs, and hundreds of utility poles broken and must be completely replaced — not simply repaired. That kind of work is complex and takes more time to do safely, even with crews working around the clock. Additional storms on Saturday evening and this morning have further complicated our efforts. More than 3,500 ComEd employees and contractors are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore every single customer. We know patience has its limits, and we don't take yours for granted. Thank you for hanging in there. Get updates anytime at ComEd.com/Storm

Tonight, ComEd’s VP of Distribution Operations, Jeremy Smith, shared a message for customers still without power—recognizing the frustration and exhaustion many are feeling. This storm caused some of the most severe damage we’ve seen since the 2020 Derecho. Crews are working through downed trees, blocked roads, and thousands of broken poles that must be rebuilt before power can be safely restored. So far, 97% of customers have been restored, with more than 3,000 crew members working through the night. If you’re still without power, please know: you haven’t been forgotten. Crews are working their way to you and won’t stop until everyone is restored. Thank you for your patience. For updates, visit ComEd.com/OutageTracker.

We know how difficult the past 24 hours have been, especially for those of you who are still without power. This has not been a typical late spring storm, and the impact across our communities has been significant. The hardest-hit areas include Crestwood to Chicago and Joliet to Alsip, where downed power lines and fallen trees caused widespread damage. We truly understand how disruptive and stressful this is for you and your families, and we appreciate your patience as we continue working. We are still with you. Despite severe weather passing through again this evening, we are continuing restoration efforts. Here’s the latest: ⚡ Approximately 384,000 customers restored as of 6 p.m. Thursday ⚡ More than 2,900 personnel working across northern Illinois ⚡ Severe weather including strong winds, lightning and hail ending tonight We are prioritizing repairs that restore the greatest number of customers first, along with critical services like hospitals, police and fire departments, before moving into smaller affected areas. For customers still without power from Wednesday’s storms, restoration is expected by Saturday evening, if not sooner, as long as conditions remain safe for our crews. As additional storms move through, we will assess any new damage and begin restoring those newly impacted as quickly and safely as possible. We will remain with you and continue working until service is safely restored for every customer. Please stay safe, avoid any downed power lines, and report outages or check your status at ComEd.com/Storm.

We opened a portion of our rights of way to students from Conrad Fischer Elementary in Elmhurst, giving them a chance to explore nature through the Mighty Acorns program. Students spread seeds, documented insect interactions, and connected with nature through hands on learning. Our stewardship includes helping kids build a deeper relationship with nature through prairie restoration. On World Environment Day, we’re highlighting how our efforts support native wildlife and increase biodiversity.
