There's something incredibly symbolic about the return of lend lease - last used to help the UK and the Soviet Union defeat German fascism - now being used to help Ukraine defeat the Russian version.

2. I've nothing but respect & gratitude for the people on the ground trying to stop #Ebola in North Kivu. But this isn't going well. There were 45 cases this week (Nov. 18-24). In Sept. there were some weeks with <10 cases. The longer this burns, the harder it will be to stop.

2. I wrote about the #Ebola drugs clinical trial earlier this month. It will test the 4 drugs; there will not be a placebo arm. If patients refuse to participate, they'll get supportive care (which is the standard of care), it seems. statnews.com/2018/11/12/a-pi…

— 145 patients have received an experimental therapy.
— 6 field labs are in place in North Kivu & Ituri.
— 3,000 samples have been tested by those labs.
— 5870 doses of Ebola vaccine are in Beni.

— 62% of cases are women.
— 14 health zones have reported cases.
— 5 days is how long a rapid test for corpses has been in use.
— 8 months is how long this outbreak has likely been underway. Cases now date back to late April.

5. Last thing: Every time there's a violent incident in North Kivu — where sadly violence is too common — the virus gets a bit of an edge on the people trying to stop it. Sunday's violence at Beni halted vaccination Monday & impeded contact surveillance. Ebola in a war zone.
