Just so I can pin this to my feed. We sent Mum off in style. Laughs, tears, one ‘sod Covid’ hug between two tearful Sons - and a beautiful afternoon on the 25th.

Evening 1 of my conference - a success. 10.40pm and I deserved this! 6 am start. Speeches to hone, polish and decorate with the occasional gag. I can do this.

PART 2 - 1/3 So it carried on going something like this. I headed up from the Kennet Valley (the holy combination of A4, River, Canal, Brooks and Great Western Railway!) to look for somewhere to have a cup of tea. (Homer brewed, no one was open at this hour!) Have some trees- I liked the combination of alive and dead!

2/3 to St Mary’s at Beenham. 1/2 mile down a track and not a through road. Here’s the history too. Ancient spot - if not ancient building….(3 fires!)

3/END The tea was good! As were the views the other side. And so too (I’ve just finished it) was my breakfast. Have a lovely weekend folks - the weather is doing its best to recover!

1/n So it went something like this - or to be more precise, it didn’t….but we recovered eventually to find horses, hares, deer, a fox, plenty of rabbits and a dawn chorus that lived up to the name. First trying to cross the Railway line with one very annoyed angler! And this at 5:30am, Theale. Blocked! And that chap was a train driver trying to reach a train on the left somewhere - and unable to get through either! I gave up but caught sight of a fox on the little lane down to the western line….

Don’t you just hate the fact that the BBC feels as if commenting on Hockney’s sexuality and the importance it had across the world in influencing attitudes - had to be given by their “identity correspondent” rather than just a journalist, friend or artist who simply knew about his life. About which his sexuality was a part. But apparently any such comment or reference has to be ring fenced for their “identity” specialist. Without whom, I presume, we’d be completely and utterly clueless.

What on earth is @BBCPM doing giving Damien Lewis’s 2nd album free advertising on PM ? “My school was inspirational etc.” (I paraphrase) “I’d go/busk around Europe and make enough to camp/exist.” Yeah. It’s what all Etonians do, after all. Gap bloody Yahr. Come on, BBC….. (I have no ire for him, just the idiot who thought we all needed to hear this).

RIP Hockney. Visited this exhibition some 10 years ago. Inspirational - particularly to my artist daughter who does trees. As I did (if less colourfully - the b&w is from my teen years!)
