We must do more to make walking a mile & cycling longer 'short trips' the 1st choice. Provide safe, pleasant space ( cycle secure parking). Huge co-benefits - safer roads, independent children's mobility, improved health, less air pollution & co2e emissions. @IanPhilipsITS

This is absolute madness. Carbon capture and storage has failed time and again. Labour has slashed reliable green programmes, to pour vast sums of our money into a complete crock. The only possible explanation is lobbying by fossil fuel companies.🧵 theguardian.com/environment/…

These narratives are so exhausting & exist to both justify inequalities whilst positioning the working-class as stupid, uncultured & undeserving.
So let’s take this example of ‘the seaside is free’ as an option for a family day out for a single mother of 3 kids from London.

@NYCOScotland have been magnificent, but especially so with this year's festivals programme, from Thursday's Seven Last Words of the Unarmed and Fauré's Requiem and still more to come: Fire in My Mouth, on 21st August.

LNER trains to London from Scotland. So much privilege on display by young adults trying to wangle it when they don't have a valid ticket for the train. At the same time, our trains are way too expensive & the ticketing rules are Byzantine for infrequent travellers.
