We're calling on @cityoftoronto to recognize drivers who help keep the city moving. By including taxis in the "Buy Local, Buy Canadian" campaign, it helps support our local drivers, which keeps money in our communities and strengthens our economy. thestar.com/news/gta/toronto…

Toronto is working on a #NetZero emission target for Vehicles-for-Hire (taxis & #Uber/#Lyft)! The key challenge: how will low-income drivers pay for the cost of the transition? We support proposals by the ECDC committee seeking a #JustTransition: ridefair.ca/building-a-just-…

John Tory is more than just an Uber “fan.” He’s a superfan. Since the Mayor’s first term, his staff have lobbied councillors to loosen taxi regulations & remove driver safety training to allow Uber to operate legally. Of course, Uber will be closely monitoring the Oct election.
NEW: A leak of 124k internal documents details Uber's playbook as it barged into cities in defiance of local rules. In Toronto, the start-up found a "fan" in Mayor John Tory, internal emails say. Our story, in collaboration w/ @ICIJorg @guardiannews: thestar.com/news/investigati…

On @metromorning, outgoing deputy mayor Denzil Minnan-Wong says the vote he regrets most was the decision to legalize Uber. He says it "crushed" taxi drivers and their families, but he went along with it because it was part of mayor's agenda.
