I love sharing info about protests online. It makes me feel cool and in-the-know and like I'm authentically connected to the movement and it lets everyone else know that I'm a real organiser. It rules! I don't ever check whether it's true half the time, I just put it out there.

So let me try to understand this correctly. A far right Telegram group published a list of immigration lawyers and centres for its supporters to target. Nobody knows how much of this is probable, bravado or disinformation but the threat exists and countering it is essential.

And then rather than mobilising local counter protests against potential far right attacks with assembly points that consider the safety of staff and clients, names and addresses of these targets are again splashed all over social media, globally, a thousand-fold doxxing number 3

And if anyone points out why this all might have been careless and irresponsible, they are accused of being insufficiently anti-fascist. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

One frustration I have with the #spycops inquiry is a tendency to pin everything "violent" on Anti-Fascist Action at a time when the far right were a genuine physical threat to black communities. So for the record:

A report by Trevor Morris of a meeting on 20 June 93 of the anti fascist collective / Unity group with a very long list of groups present. Says organisers did not want AFA/Red Action involvement. Trevor Morris said the other groups would want it peaceful. #spycops

– despite major political differences, AFA consistently and generously provided advice in advance of events that could face far-right attacks. – stopping Euro fascists at the Battle of Waterloo Station in 1992 was a triumph. – "self defence is no offence" is entirely legitimate

– the fact the Met in the 90s spent so much time and energy on "subversive" anti-fascist groups was in sharp contrast to its complete indifference to racist violence and harassment. – if the BNP bookshop in Welling has burnt down at any point, nobody would have shed a tear

I was a continuous member at Stratford East Picturehouse from 1998-2024 and before @picturehouses closes it down, I'm attending the final screening tonight. Lots of happy memories, well over a 1000 films: they really should gift me my usual seat (D1) for this kind of perseverance

LBGTQ rights are under attack and homophobia in our communities is growing more brazen: some utter bigots have again vandalised the pavement Pride flag by Forest Gate station in east London.

I became a member of @SEPicturehouse in 1998. It's where I held my 50th birthday celebration. I suspected the writing was on the wall last year when they shut the bar and it never opened but today I saw the cinema is closing on 28 July

Breaking: @claptonfootball have withdrawn from @SCEFLeague With no chairman, manager, players, friendlies or trial dates and a move to play in south London, it had looked like the end and this has now been confirmed. @GreenwaysFC are reprieved from relegation in their place.

Having contributed 14 copies of "1984" to this fantastic project, I really hope there's a way to bring it to London at some point soon

"Nakba as a legal concept" - the essay Columbia Law Review's board was so afraid of it, briefly chose to shut its website - is available at last. As well as being brilliant, it is also a model of how to write a great legal essay vividly and with clarity columbialawreview.org/conten…
