Al Carns is absolutely right here 👇 Our veterans in Northern Ireland did nothing but their duty in defeating the IRA terrorists. We cannot now let the IRA achieve their aims through political concessions by persecuting our own soldiers. This element of the Northern Ireland Troubles Bill must be stopped.

Head of the armed forces Sir Richard Knighton today: "We will have to dial back our activities and our exercise and operational activity if the level of resource funding that is available to us does not increase." Speaking at the G7 today, Keir Starmer made clear there will be no more money forthcoming. John Healey's resignation speech in the Commons later should be box office.
The head of the armed forces Sir Richard Knighton has just revealed something shocking about the defence budget💥 He said during a House of Lords committee meeting that the armed forces would have to "dial back" its work if he doesn't get any more money. He was responding to a series of questions from Lord Robertson, who asked whether the reported £10bn spending uplift offered to John Healey - prompting his resignation - was enough.

How the hell did Dan Jarvis sign up to this. This is the head of the armed forces saying that our military will have to do less of their core function under Labour’s spending plans.
Breaking: Sir Richard Knighton confirms to Lord Robertson that the armed forces will be forced to "dial back our activities and our exercise and operational activity" if the funding offer does not increase from £13.5 billion

So lets imagine that the good folk of Makerfield do lose their minds on Thursday and vote Burnham in as their new MP (silly i know) how will that benefit Labour voters there? He will become PM and they won't see him again for months if not years. Not a great deal them is it ?

🚨 The former defence secretary just told Parliament that the defence investment plan “falls well short of what is required.” But more importantly, that it had no path to spending 3% of GDP by 2030 on defence. The Prime Minister must address these claims.

A Plea to the good people of Makerfield - you may feel an affinity with the Restore Party but if you vote for it you get the polar opposite of everything it is in Government. You get Andy Burnham. Please think long and hard about that for the sake of our country!

Even with YouGov, Andy Burnham's favourability rating has plummeted from a 9 approval rating, to -11 since last month. If he became PM, it wouldn’t take long for him to be as disliked as Keir Starmer.
Last month, Andy Burnham’s approval rating was 8%. Now it has fallen by 15 percentage points to minus 7%. It is the lowest net rating that has ever been recorded for him by Ipsos. Constant u-turns, dashing long-held beliefs overnight, more people can see that he is Starmer2.0.

This is not news. Many careers have been terminated for pointing this out.
NEW: There is “unbelievable” waste and inefficiency at the MoD, former armed forces minister Al Carns has said, adding that every time he would “turn a stone over” he would get another shock. He tells @jessicaelgot that he was angered by unwillingness to confront sunk costs of legacy programmes – and that mismanaged projects should be scrapped in favour of new technology. theguardian.com/politics/202…

Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, Chief of the Defence Staff says this year's cuts in defence will mean less operational capability. That's pretty clear. For all the talk of increasing the budget what this government have really done is put items in one bag and claimed it's defence. If you pay for your bacon and eggs separately, just putting them together doesn't mean you have more eggs.

10 million people of working age on benefits and Labour refuses to cut the welfare bill in favour of defending Britain. Clearly a deliberate strategy to weaken our country. It’s a despicable government which needs ousting.

Scrapping the two-child benefit cap was a big mistake by Labour. Costs billions in extra benefits and doesn’t incentivise work or help the economy. The cost has meant millions of pensioners and working people are now penalised with higher taxes to pay for it. Totally unfair.

Why on earth has @DanJarvisMBE accepted this role to be shit on from @Keir_Starmer for a good man why has he become such a weak MP?
EXC: Keir Starmer will not commit more money to the Defence Investment Plan for Dan Jarvis. Jarvis is expected to receive the same settlement of £13.5bn that led John Healey to quit the Government in anger last week, despite the new defence secretary’s pledge to ensure the Armed Forces have “what they need”. He will instead be told to supplement the existing budget by finding savings at the MoD when fresh negotiations kick off this week, two sources familiar with the situation told @Telegraph. Jarvis will, however, be given the chance to tweak the DIP *within the existing envelope* if he wishes. The news will dash hopes that John Healey’s resignation last week would force the PM to change course.

I’m a huge supporter of Rupert Lowe. But if Labour get in because Restore split the vote, it will be unforgivable. if Burnham doesn’t win, he can’t run for PM. So why in the world would anyone split the vote ??
