My paper is out!
Our latest paper appears today in ACS Macro Letters (@MacroJrnls_ACS)! Research led by Corey Husic reveals a mechanophore design for force-triggered molecular release in aprotic environments. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…

one of the most absurd things I’ve photographed 😅
Can you imagine walking down the road in Yellowstone National Park and seeing a Red Fox that decided to make itself a little rodent sandwich? This photo was taken by Corey Husic. He thought the fox had some sort of deformity but soon realized it was a rodent wrapped in bread.

Today, we are announcing that our union will no longer be named for John James Audubon. We will hold a vote to select our new name; in the meantime we will call ourselves The Bird Union.

Why are chemistry graduate recruitment events so alcohol-centric? Are other disciplines like this? I remember a faculty member at @CornellChem telling us all that if we didn’t show up hungover to our faculty meetings the next day, we probably weren’t a good fit for his group…

When I visited @CaltechCCE, some of the professors I was most interested in got drunk. Like sloppy drunk. I absolutely felt pressured to drink to be noticed by the labs I wanted to join. That’s really not okay.

Yesterday we held our inaugural Peter B. Dervan Lecture, with Jennifer Dounda presenting "A Decade of CRISPR-Cas9 Genome Editing: What's Ahead for the Technology and Its Applications". The event was a success to say the least with LPLH and our overflow room reaching capacity!

I have only seen three Evening Grosbeaks in my life and the last was in 2012, yet they are somehow increasingly becoming one of my favorite birds. Anyone want to send some to SoCal?
