My Dryer: plays a cheery little song to let me know itβs done.
Me: Nice, my clothes are dry.
Dryer: I didnβt say they were dry. I said they were DONE.
Me: β¦
Dryer: Here, I twisted everything into a sopping wet rope for you.
ALT A misaligned lint filter on an LG dryer has once again caught the laundry and twisted it into a soggy-ass nightmare. Thankfully, this only happens every time. Never buy an LG dryer unless you like wet, damaged clothing and household linens.
After discussing within our former DarkLit authors chat, and confirming where we sat with legal options, I'm sharing a longer post today regarding the behind the scenes issues with DarkLit and Marceau.

Maybe one day Iβll be able to hear the name Alfred Bester without βWhat about Ray Bradbury?β blaring inside my skull, but today was not that day.
At this point I just assume the people who donβt wipe down the equipment they use at the gym are the same people who donβt actively wash their privates in the shower.
βWhatever, the next person will probably wipe it down before they use itβ is the βThe shampoo lather runoff will clean my balls when I rinse my hairβ of the workout world.
No one will remember:
- your salary
- how βbusyβ you were
- how many hours you worked
People will remember:
- that time the waitress said βEnjoy your mealβ and you replied βThanks, you too!β
My βWall of Inspirationβ in my office is taking shape.
@HNTurtledove, whose work first made me sit up and say βI want to do this one day!β
@HenryRollins for inspiring me to βShow up and do the work!β
@RobertJSawyer for proving to this kid that a Canadian can make a go of it.
ALT Framed photos of Harry Turtledove, Henry Rollins, and Robert J. Sawyer hang on an otherwise bland an uninspiring office wall.
Situation update! The Wall of Inspiration now has quotes from @HNTurtledove, @henryrollins, and @RobertJSawyer. The RJS is a paraphrase from his Masterclass Workshop at When Words Collide @alexwriters last weekend.
(Prior to this, one colleague asked if these were my uncles.)
ALT Framed photos of Harry Turtledove, Henry Rollins, and Robert J. Sawyer hang on a wall. Beneath each is a quote from their work.
ALT Framed photo features a quote from Harry Turtledove's novel Fox and Empire. Text reads: "Philosophy? We're getting old, you and I. Is that philosophy?" "It will do, till something better comes along."
ALT Framed photo features a quote from Henry Rollins. Text reads: "I wanna know, therefore I go."
ALT Framed photo features a quote from Robert J. Sawyer. Text reads: "Every new project must challenge me in some new way."
Favourite quotes from each will be added when I have a chance to pick up some hanging hooks. Weβre not allowed to use nails because asbestos! Until then, hereβs my Bowie section (also a work in progress).
A visit to a small town used bookstore turned up a @HNTurtledove short fiction collection paperback Iβve never seen (and never heard of) before. Sure to be some gems in here!

Late to the party, perhaps, but Iβm currently reading and thoroughly enjoying WOUNDS by @NBallingrud. Delicious stuff!
Ballingrudβs prose is on another level here. Iβll be adding everything he has ever written to my TBR.
Are you normal, or do you (like me) find yourself occasionally spending time fretting and fuming about how much fridge and cupboard space is wasted by the gaps between circular containers like jars, bottles, cans, and yogurt tubs?
I'd like to buy the world a home
and furnish it with books,
a comfy seat and Earl Grey tea
in a cozy reading nook.
I'd like to buy the world a book
and give them time to read.
That's the real thing.

they can just drop prices by 30-fucking-percent and still turn a profit which just shows you most of our current inflation problems is a scam cover for record profiteering
So of course we all realized immediately Bender in Futurama was named in tribute to John Bender in The Breakfast Club, but, uh... I just now figured out Frye is named after Cameron from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
(this is probably new information to only me)
