Sainsbury's boss eyes bumper £7.3m payday as shoppers reel from higher food prices. Up from £5.4m last year – 200 times average employee pay. Govts preach pay restraint to workers, silence on exec pay, shareholder returns. Let workers vote on exec pay. thisismoney.co.uk/money/mark…

Most people want a fairer society, a working democracy, a protected planet. So why split the vote and let the far-right in to destroy it all? Sign the @CompassOffice open letter urging progressive leaders to cooperate at the next election: actionnetwork.org/forms/unit…

Absolute bombshell on Al Jazeera. The US and Israel have deliberately bombed over 30 universities across Iran, assassinating professors in their homes and massacring over 60 students. Washington is systematically trying to destroy Iranian scientific progress.

Absolute disaster for the NHS. An expert resident doctor exposes massive government incompetence. While 54,000 patients wait over 12 hours in A&E, the Prime Minister is actively cutting training jobs and turning away fully qualified doctors. Total system failure.

A terrible decision, and one which will do huge damage to the Government's climate credentials. As Ed knows, this drilling won't lower bills, but instead it sends a clear message that Britain won't be a world leader on ending oil and gas exploitation

If as Chancellor of the Exchequer you won't invest in local councils and public services, that is not creating conditions for growth.
Cutting the cost of living is my number one priority, and thanks to the choices we have made we are driving inflation down. Our economic plan is the right one, cutting the cost of living, cutting national debt and creating the conditions for growth.

I like the look of Andy Burnham & am glad he's been blocked, because as a Labour MP he would disappear from any useful role when Labour collapses entirely.
Starmer’s problem is not Burnham. It is that Burnham represents an alternative Labour tradition that voters recognise as authentic, and which cannot be managed by message discipline. That the Labour leadership are terrified of this says all we need to know about them.
