He is looking at us from below his top row of teeth, so that his stare is slight unnerving. His left arm us bent out towards us, hand palm up as if to invite us forward. His other hand is tucked to his chest and holds his cane. A decorative yellow and red border reminiscent of old circus posters surrounds him. There are 3 large yellow starts on top of both sides of the borders. In the left are Jax, Ragatha, and Zooble-- looking playful, resigned and upset respectively. In the stars on the right are Pomni, Kinger and Gangle-- looking tired, joyful and sad respectively. Starting from under Cain and trailing up on both sides and under the stars is a long winding red and yellow ribbon. Rows of stars line the background.

There is a giant red eye looking through the porthole. Simon hefts himself up from the hole in the floor facing away from us, only having himself up to the hip out of the hole. He hunches over slightly and his arms are bent at the elbow slightly from exertion. He looks over his shoulder to glare at us, his shoulder obscuring his mouth. He is soaked in blood and it drips off of his face and hair. His hair hanging down in clumps around his face. The hole he comes from is filled with blood, and it spills onto the floor. The rest of the submarine is grungy with blood and grime.

Tau Ceti sits large and glorious, taking up most of the background. From behind Tau Ceti and coming towards us and under Grace is a ribbon of red, getting larger as it passes under Grace. This is the astrophage. On top left of Tau Ceti on it's horizon the gleam of another star shines over it. There are a bunch of papers surrounding Grace and fluttering along the astrophage line. They contain drawings from his students, motifs found on his quilt, papers he graded from his students and parts of his dissertation.

It is dark within whatever room it leads to. We are viewing all this slightly to the right of where the row of walls opens in the middle, and the wall closest to us also has a closed door on it. Right in front of us is a stop sign, the signage it backwards. a little ways behind it is a wooden chair that looks like it is partially sunken into the floor. The ceiling lights are burnt out towards the back of this room, casting the background in shadow.

There is a wall perpendicular and quite close to us that takes up a tiny bit of the right side of our view, as if we're looking around the corner into this area.
