I just watched the mayor of Yuma, Arizona say he hopes the Biden executive action results in removing some migrants so that other people are deterred from coming to the US. The host @ChrisJansing didn't point out that kind of deterrence is illegal under US immigration law.

And since anyone subject to Biden's exclusion would wind up in México, it's notable that so far the Mexican government hasn't announced that it's on board--and the US government hasn't claimed that México is either.

As we hear more about possible Biden administration plans to admit refugees from Gaza, here's some context: From October 1 to April 30, the United States had admitted 16 people as refugees from Palestine. That's approximately 0.029% of all refugees admitted in that period.
