I recommend going through the AFCA process as the only way to get a meaningful response from ME for a financial issue of any importance
ME used to be a great bank. They seem almost non functional currently . I’ve lost any faith or goodwill I ever had towards them

The phone number I provided in my first post on this issue does provide a Callback feature after about five or 10 minutes, which should be part of their main phone number feature they cannot expect people to be on hold of the phone for over 45 minutes or more
