Re: S3,
#Hucklerobby, &
The Music Within:
In the 6/2 episode of the Little Gold Men by Vanity Fair podcast, Noah Wyle talks about preparing for S3 by reading Victor Wooten's "The Music Lesson: A Spiritual Search for Growth Through Music" (again), "because of the way he breaks down aspects of musicology, I really want to use for a particular character". Although Noah refrains from explicitly naming the character, I still maintain that there is absolutely food for thought left on the Hucklerobby table. I have not yet delved into the book myself, but there are a few noteworthy takeaways gleaned from a quick Google search:
- The name of the main character's primary mentor is "Michael".
- Per Brettworks blog's entry, "Intangible Things: On Victor L. Wooten's 'The Music Lesson'", summarizing and analyzing the book:
"First, music is inside the musician, not the musical instrument. There are many instances in the book where Michael admonishes Wooten for merely thinking of himself as a bassist rather than as a musician who happens to play the bass. The idea here is that musicality is more an orientation towards the field of the sonic rather than a technical competence on a particular musical instrument."
One could interpret this takeaway as analogous to a character's queer subtext/story arc: "You are not your orientation; your orientation is an extension of yourself. You contain multitudes."
- "Never lose the groove to find a note." The Pitt's pilot script explicitly states that Robby listens to "something groovy" while walking to work; Dennis also has a penchant for groovy music.
Ain't We Funkin Now? Perhaps.๐ผ
