Did you know flowers can tell time? 🌼🕰️ In the 1700s, botanist Carl Linnaeus dreamed up a “flower clock” made of plants that open and close at specific hours of the day. 🌸💡 Imagine a garden where blooms unfold like clock hands—dandelions at 8 a.m., goat’s beard by noon, and evening primrose at dusk. Nature’s own gentle timekeeper. ⏳🌿

Hey, Victorianists! Did you know that you can see some Victorian ambrotypes and tintypes for free at the Bod at Weston in Oxford? How cool! Also on display are some leaves of Shakespeare’s First Folio and a Gutenberg Bible! I feel absolutely spoiled at #BAVS2025 already!

Excited to be back in Oxford, this time for #BAVS2025. Not presenting this time, which means I can spend more time enjoying the plethora of interesting presentations! 🥰 And I’m staying in the prettiest building (Rhodes House)!

Pleased as punch (pun intended) that I’ve been accepted to present on Sambourne’s bird-related Designs After Nature at the British Library in November 😍

These vibrant tiles, designed by William De Morgan and painted with a William Morris pattern, were made in 1877 for a grand estate. Forgotten in a cupboard, they were rediscovered in 1928, perfectly preserved. A rare glimpse of Arts & Crafts brilliance.

Completely unlike myself, I'm starting my presentation slides for #RSVP2025 #VoicesVisions 20 days before the conference, as opposed to doing it on the flight there 😂

At panel 1.4 of #BSLS2025 and thinking about these really thought-provoking questions. Also adding, how can universities tackle racism?

Good morning! What a brilliant start to #Event2024 day 2, thinking about encountering objects in museum collections in a keynote talk by Deborah Wynne and Holly Kirby. Now we’re hearing from Jessica Thomas and Bethany Dahlstrom on depictions of women in fashion, books and art.
