Everything about tech and academia is at odds because tech makes a lot of money and doesn't need to make itself important like non-STEM academia.
Just as how engineering and academia is at odds because engineering is based on concrete reality and tradeoffs.
Tech is new money. They have a middle class mentality towards money - they don't give it away.
Zuckerberg did try once, by donating to a hospital which they renamed after him.

China is homogenous hypercompetitivity - everyone studies hard and enters STEM and excels in common industries.
India is non-homogenous hypercompetitivity - everyone does whatever is needed to earn money, which is how you get people throwing cups around while making drinks.

It's all good. I accidentally started all my ETH bots in a syncing node and it detected mismatched nonces and tried to recover, then complained that there's no funds for the self transfer txs and I thought I lost all my ETH. Turns out no.
