What bums me out about the negativity wrt my alma mater is twofold: 1) we’re truly elite academic institution, hardest coursework for most majors imaginable, the brightest generational minds. If @cremieuxrecueil had attempted any major, I am genuinely unsure how he’d have fared -

2) the undergraduate coursework is on average so difficult and the suicide rate so high that trying to parse IQ by major is basically a useless indicator, for a variety of reasons. For example, Math and Physics were the GOATed majors - we had top programs, but the students who majored in these tended to be genius IQ. They also had high nervous breakdown/schizophrenia onset and suicide rates. Classics you had to be a dweeb and computer science was mostly tech social climber cheater types. Literature and liberal arts were elite, too. You shouldn’t belittle an endeavor where students are forced to look at the nuance of the world and parse it, especially during these times. It’s going to be a bigger skill in the age of AI. Don’t ever laugh at someone who knows and subscribes to what intersectionality is, for example.
