NAT64 is a popular #IPv6 transition mechanism - but what impact is it having on path lengths and latency? Elizabeth Boswell (@UofGlasgow) and colleagues turned to @RIPEAtlas to measure NAT64 usage in the wild: labs.ripe.net/author/elizabe…
Pleased that my PhD student, Elizabeth Boswell, has a post on the RIPE Labs blog today talking about the work she did in her Masters project “Measuring NAT64 Usage in the Wild” labs.ripe.net/author/elizabe…
Summary: not so many RIPE Atlas probes are in networks that use NAT64 as an IPv6 transition mechanism, but she found many interesting misconfigurations in those that do. As a technology, NAT64 seems quite fragile. More details in our preprint on arXiv: arxiv.org/abs/2402.14632
