The world is, fundamentally, *about* God. All we call pleasure is some creature being given the privilege of showing us some aspect of God's goodness for us to enjoy. What we call "doing good deeds" is being given the privilege of being God's creative love to another creature.

Please don't quote-tweet the worst people on the internet just because their economic illiteracy is a good hook for commentary. Their envy is still toxic. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The fact that public discourse would be meaningfully improved if it were illegal to discuss a person's total net worth by taking the shares they own in something and multiplying by the current market price makes me question the first amendment in a way I never did before.

I wonder who at discord thought that it would be great to log into the website by scanning a qr code with your phone in the app, but you still need to enter your password which also gets you in without the app.

So far as I can tell, this only solves the problem of people forgetting their email address.

Do the people lamenting the rise of slop long for the days of artisinal hand-crafted content?

Are the diet-bros posting slop about min-maxxing?

Or is the true min-maxxing slop only to be found in eating-disorder twitter?

I wonder how soon it will be possible to go to a click-farming supply store to buy a bucket of slop to use as engagement bait.

A great deal of the complaining about slop that one sees might be accurately called "hateslop", though perhaps some of the less passionate versions might be better termed "slopslop".

Having spent a bunch of time talking with people from several Asian cultures recently, I'm beginning to think that Asian collectivism* is very different than western collectivism. *I wish I had a better term for this.

(I am also coming to think it's healthier than western collectivism, though that wouldn't be too much of a shock since it's been part of functioning societies in Asia for millennia while Western collectivism is a specific type of degeneration that implodes after a few decades.)

The short short version is that Asian collectivism seems to be something like an extremely extended family which cares for its individuals. Whereas western collectivism is like the group becoming a meta-organism which has rights against the individuals who make it up.

PSA: anyone who makes unconditional negative tweets in the second person ("You aren't...") who isn't stating something universally true is posting engagement bait. If you see someone doing this, make your life better and mute them.

I went to a secret underground restaurant that serves endangered animals last night. I don't care that the service was bad because the waiter was blindfolded, bad service is bad service and that means a small tip.

(Because internet: this is a joke. That's an AI generated image. If there is a secret underground restaurant that serves endangered animals, I certainly wouldn't be invited to it. Etc.)

I'm not interesting in discussing whether and what tip was decreed by God in the ten commandments. What I am interested in noting is that the sub-total on this alleged receipt is wrong. If you add up the numbers, you get a subtotal of $524, not $498.
The guy who posted this on social media genuinely believed the $40 tip was appropriate Look at what was purchased!?! 6 people... A $40 tip on a $545.17 bill... Completely inappropriate At the very least each person should've chipped in $20 for the tip

Further, the "handwriting" is remarkably consistent anywhere a digit is repeated (pixel perfect when I checked the 0 digits).

Now, the subject of whether one should tip at a restaurant and how much stands quite independently of this particular (almost certainly) fake receipt. But it's usually a good rule in life that if someone is lying to you, don't engage in a good faith discussion with them.

People talk as if seeing the good in everyone is delusional, pie-in-the-sky, Goody Twoshoes stuff. In reality, seeing only the worst in everyone is the fastest way to get the few people willing to work with you to stop, quickly.

If you treat people like they are out to get you, eventually they have to treat you like an enemy just to be safe. In this way, paranoia can be a self-fulfilling prophesy, which makes you even more wary in the future. It can be a very vicious cycle.
