Bring back
@ctrlplusz_gist let's start having conversations like these again. 🙏🙇
This whole situation around Moses Bliss and Graphic Designers... if we’re being honest, it’s strategy.
There are two clear outcomes here, and one is already happening in real time — publicity.
Right now, everyone knows there’s an event coming. Whether you agree or not, it’s already registered somewhere in your mind.
The second outcome? He might actually pick someone and change their life.
And when that happens, it becomes proof that the opportunity was “real.”
But let’s not act like these things are random.
These are brands. There are teams. Decisions are calculated before anything goes public.
Now, shifting it back to us as designers…
If we’re being honest, we played a role in devaluing our own industry.
A lot of us have done free work. I have too.
Sometimes for passion, sometimes for visibility — but over time, it sets a precedent.
That’s why things like this can even happen.
Because somewhere along the line, the value of design became negotiable.
So instead of just reacting, maybe it’s time we reset.
More real conversations. More education. More structure.
Not just posting finished work…
But talking about the realities, the mistakes, the standards.
Because if we don’t define the value of what we do,
someone else will.
